Final Album design

We have decided as a group that this is the design we have picked for our album cover. Although the image of the cover is a girl and this does give the impression of it being a album of a girl artist we think this makes our project unique. We have tried to deviate from the typical indie pop album work and aim to target at a wider audience rather than limiting it to a audience of one gender. We think because the album cover does seem quite feminine it attracts a female audience on that aspect but because the artist is male it also appeals to males aswell. We think by having the thin black lines around the side of the artist name it makes the main focus of the album cover and this what we want. We think the captial lettering also makes it the most important text of the album cover because it is the artists name. Out of all the album designs we have looked at for the front cover we think the positioning of the text in this design is the best because it stands out well against the light blue sky making the bold font more eye catching. We think this image is perfect as the way the fence is positioned behind Catherines character draws all the attention to her holding the balloon. The sea in the background and the rest of the beach setting gives the whole image a quite calm feel which is the thing we were wanting to portray. We are planning on tidying the cover up using Adobe photoshop as this image was done on paint and its made it slightly pixilated. We are also going to brighten up the balloon as the filter we have used over the top of the image has made it look slightly pink and we want to stick to a red balloon as this is an iconic image throughout the whole of our project.

  1. The crucial thing is to make sure that you consider both the design process which led you to this design and the actual CD covers which either inspired it or which you are subverting. What direct evidence do you have that this is approrpriate - how can you back up your assertions?

  2. I'm really concerned that you've only posted once since the beginning of the year. There is no indication of the work you've been doing on the planning of the advert, nor of any meaningful research into this. Just because I know you've been doing it doesn't mean I can credit you for it if it's not evidenced on your blog. I really need a lot more from you; you should have at least 15 posts since Jan 1...
